Stress prevents bees from leaving the hive

Honey bees and other pollinators—essential to the balance of our agricultural ecosystems through their pollination activities, and indispensable for honey production—are currently threatened by an invasion of Asian hornets. Particularly in the autumn, this formidable predator attacks beehives, capturing bees in mid-flight or right in front of the hive to feed its larvae. The mere presence of Asian hornets outside a hive causes enough stress to keep the bees from venturing out, thereby endangering the survival of the colonies. To address this issue, we have developed an innovative, recyclable, "low-tech" solution that protects bees near their hives. It significantly limits the number of bees caught by Asian hornets, without hindering the bees' movement in and out of the hive or harming other insects. It has now been scientifically proven that trapping queen hornets is not enough; a combination of different control methods is required.

GENESIS OF THIS INNOVATIVE SYSTEM

An innovation based on observation

A direct impact on the hornet population

By limiting the capture of honeybees, our device reduces the ability of Asian hornets to feed their offspring, thereby directly affecting their reproduction in the short and medium term. Without an increasing supply of prey, Asian hornet colonies are forced to slow their development. Stop-frelon is an effective solution that helps control their population while protecting honeybees. It exerts an indirect yet consistent influence on the hornets' reproductive cycle.

Following a test conducted in the autumn of 2025—based on a protocol established with the ITSAP—an analysis of the data shows that the "Stop-frelon" (hornet-stop) device results in an average gain of 3.15 kg per hive at the start of the overwintering period.

Installation in 3 minutes, with no tools required

As a beekeeper, I know that time is a precious commodity for both professional and amateur beekeepers. Stop-frelon can be assembled right at the apiary—no tools or glue required—which greatly simplifies installation and minimizes preparation efforts. It can be conveniently stored under the hive roof, where it provides extra insulation while remaining close at hand for quick deployment. Simply fit the components together and attach Stop-frelon to the hive using six thumbtacks; this ensures optimal protection against hornets while safeguarding the well-being of your bees.

and removal in 1 minute.

The design of the Stop-frelon allows for very quick disassembly, providing added flexibility when inspecting hives or moving them to new locations.
