However, they are increasingly threatened by the spread of the Asian hornet. To feed its larvae, this predator targets beehives, especially in autumn, catching bees in front of the hive. In addition, the presence of Asian hornets puts bee colonies under considerable stress, often discouraging bees from leaving the hive and thus putting the survival of the colony at risk. To address this problem, we have developed an innovative, recyclable, low-tech solution that protects bees in front of their hives. It significantly reduces the number of bees captured by Asian hornets without disrupting the bees' movement in and out of the hive or harming other insects. Research has shown that trapping queen hornets alone is not enough to control their populations. A more effective approach requires combining several complementary control methods.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-78d5481f default uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container__video-wrap\"><video autoplay loop muted playsinline><source src=\"http:\/\/stop-frelon.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Demo_Stop-Frelon.mp4\" type=\"video\/mp4\"\/><\/video><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-layout-grid uagb-block-cb8a27eb alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-27f47db3\"><h6 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">GENESIS OF THIS INNOVATIVE SYSTEM<\/h6><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-6fd6ef76\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-ee1428ea\"><p class=\"uagb-desc-text\"><strong>An innovation based on observation<\/strong><br><br>This device is the result of careful observation of the flight behaviour of honeybees and Asian hornets. Based on these observations, we designed a device that specifically disrupts the hornets\u2019 flight in front of beehives, making it more difficult for them to catch bees. This disruption interferes with their hunting behaviour, creating competition between the hornets and diverting their attention away from the bees. It also significantly increases the time hornets spend hovering, which requires a considerable amount of energy. The device does not kill hornets, but it drastically reduces the number of bees they capture and helps relieve stress on the colonies. As a result, the bees feel safer and can continue gathering nectar and pollen. Following several rounds of testing, we adjusted the dimensions of Stop-hornet to optimise its effectiveness. <br><br><strong>A direct impact on the hornet population<\/strong><br><br>By limiting the capture of honeybees, our device reduces the ability of Asian hornets to feed their offspring, thereby directly affecting their reproduction in the short and medium terms. Without an increasing supply of prey, Asian hornet colonies are forced to slow their development. Stop-hornet is an effective solution that helps control their population while protecting honeybees.
